Learn on the go without a network

Aviationlex has no offline mode. You cannot download lessons or regulations to your iPhone or iPad. The app does remember overviews it loaded recently and keeps showing them without a network.

What works without a network

The iOS app stores overviews on the device and shows them immediately when you open it. As soon as a network is available, it reloads quietly and replaces the stored version. Without a network the last loaded version stays visible, and the app shows no error message for it.

This applies to content you opened earlier while online:

  • the training overview with your modules and your latest progress
  • the library tree and the chapters of a regulation you have already opened
  • your folders, pins and recently viewed documents
  • your daily streak and the achievements under Rewards

After you sign in, the app preloads your profile, sources, library tree, folders, pins and training overview. Individual chapters are added only when you open them.

What does not work without a network

Anything that needs your account or the server needs a connection:

  • starting a lesson, having practice answers checked and submitting a section test
  • reading the lesson text in the textbook
  • saving your learning progress. Without a network the app shows “Completion could not be saved. Check your connection.”
  • using Ask Avlex
  • opening a regulation or chapter you have never loaded

The browser does not work offline either.

Prepare before you travel

Plan ahead for what you will need on the way.

  1. While online, open the modules, regulations and chapters you want to look at on the go.
  2. Open the training overview once before you lose the network.
  3. Finish lessons while online. Only then is your progress saved.

Device storage is a cache, not a download. When you sign out, the app deletes your account data from this device. Do not sign out before a trip.

If the app keeps showing old data after the network returns, switch tabs or reopen the app. Report a continuing problem with the exact message to Support.
